Meet Martyn

Martyn James

Martyn has been dancing since the age of 11. He has taken part in major international competitions all over the world and won many medals and recommendations. The latest competition was an international event in London, where he won first place.

Martyn taught at the famous Rivoli Ballroom in London (as seen on “Strictly Come Dancing”) for ten years.
Martyn moved to Bournemouth in August 2008.  Before that he lived in Spain for three years and was Director of the MHG Dance Studio, Marbella.
The MHG Dance Studio was formed in London in 1996 when it joined the Phoenix Dance Group at the Rivoli Ballroom and the Social Centre in Crystal Palace. The Phoenix Dance Group has been running at the Rivoli Ballroom for sixteen years headed by Juliet McFarlane.
Martyn taught at venues across the Costa Del Sol, as well as running popular Dinner Dances at the Marbella Country Club. He also taught at the Professionado de Malaga, where he instructed future dance teachers and performers in ballroom and Latin dance and stagecraft. He is also experienced at teaching Ballroom and latin dance to children and young people, and worked with the Dance Works studio in Sotogrande, choreographing routines for their annual show.
He has now established In2ballroom classes, lessons and social events in and around the Bournemouth area.
